Strengthening the security of the Electronic Procurement System (EPS), changes have been made to the authentication process starting from February 1, 2024.
In connection with the changes in legal regulations, the current method of authentication via code cards will gradually (upon the next password change) be replaced by the Google two-factor authentication login method.
EPS users who currently use code cards for authentication are already encouraged to prepare for the transition to two-factor authentication by familiarizing themselves with EPS updates and downloading the Google Authenticator app on their mobile device.
How will authentication change from code card to two-factor authentication?
The transition from code card solution to two-factor authentication solutions will take place gradually, and when the user's password expiration date is reached, the two-factor authentication setup form will be displayed (see below), and the user will need to link their EPS account with the Google Authenticator mobile app.
How to add two-factor authentication to your user account?
After the password expiration date is reached, the following form will be displayed:
Following the steps indicated in the form, the user can link their EPS user profile to the Google Authenticator mobile app.
The Google Authenticator app for your smartphone can be obtained here:
How to authenticate to EPS using two-factor authentication?
To connect to EPS using two-factor authentication, the user must have an active two-factor authentication setup.
Logging in to EPS proceeds just like with a code card - the user enters their User name and password:
After entering the username and password, the user must enter the code from the smart device linked to their user account:
What to do in case of losing the linked authenticator for the account?
If the user no longer has access to the Google Authenticator account linked to their EPS user account for any reason, it can be restored in the following ways:
User recovery request:
To regain access to their user account due to the loss of two-factor authentication, after entering the username and password and the code card, the user must click the "Can't get the code?" button, which opens a form where the username and the associated email address must be entered.
After successful completion, the user will receive an email with a link to the two-factor authentication restoration form.
After opening the link and entering the password, you can recreate the two-factor authentication link:
Administrator's invitation to restore:
To restore access for a user who has lost access to their user account due to the loss of two-factor authentication and cannot restore it independently, the organization's administrator presses the "Send reset invitation" button in the specific user's data, after which a link to the restoration form is sent to the user's specified email.
ATTENTION! If EPS displays an error message: "Since this email address is already assigned to several EPS users, to perform this action, please change the email address first (contact your organization's EPS administrator if necessary) or contact the EPS User Support Service (phone 66155511 or email eis@vraa.gov.lv)!" specify another email address to the user, save, and repeat the action!
